Thursday, November 03, 2005
NetLib announced its Column Encryption Manager for Netlib Encryptionizer. Col-E for SQL Server lets you encrypt selected data columns so that you can protect specific data such as salaries, PINs, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data in your SQL Server 2000, 7.0, and Microsoft Access databases. The product lets you select columns to encrypt and determine who has read access to the encrypted columns. The product automatically maintains encryption integrity and keeps encryption keys separate from the data they protect. Repeating Values Protection (RVP), an additional feature, lets you deploy the product in as little as a few hours and adds an additional layer of security on top of Windows and SQL Server security. The product doesn't increase your database size and is transparent to most existing applications. Encryptionizer for SQL Server is licensed per-server and must be installed on each server in a cluster. Volume pricing and OEM licensing is available. Free, time-limited evaluation versions are available, and pricing for Netlib Col-E is available on request at 877-367-1177, 203 321-1278, or through the vendor's Web site.    http://lists.sqlmag.com/t?ctl=1877D:285886
