>>TITLE: N_GETCAST and N_ONCAST do not work with Windows 95 Microsoft Client for NetWare

>>PRODUCT(S):
NetLib (all versions) for Clipper
NetLib (all versions) for FoxPro DOS
NetLib (all versions) for FoxPro Windows

>>PLATFORMS(S):
Windows 95 with Microsoft Client for NetWare

>>SUMMARY:
Station does not "see" incoming broadcasts when using N_ONCAST and/or N_GETCAST with Windows 95 Microsoft Client for NetWare.

>>MORE INFORMATION:
This is due to an incompatibility between the Microsoft Windows 95 Client for NetWare and the NetWare SEND command. See Microsoft KB article Q146212.

>>RESOLUTION/FIX:
There is currently no fix for this. The Microsoft KB article recommends using the NetWare NETX or VLM client instead. Another alternative is to use Novell Client32 for Windows 95.

If you wish to keep using the Microsoft Client, you can use N_IPXSEND, N_IPXRECV and N_ONIPX as an alternative to N_CAST, N_GETCAST and N_ONCAST, respectively. However, this will not resolve the problem of broadcast messages generated by the server or by the Netware SEND.EXE command.
